Mississippi’s own BigWalkDog isn’t asking for permission anymore. Today, the 6’8″ Southern heavyweight steps fully into his independent era with the release of his new album Until Then, out everywhere now via UnitedMasters, alongside the arrival of a stark, unflinching new video for album opener “Soul To Keep.”

Directed by Corey Hallam, the “Soul To Keep” visual strips away the spectacle. There’s no entourage, no flex reel, no cinematic misdirection. It’s just Walk, a mirror, and the truth. Over the track, he confronts the online chatter head-on, rapping, “They talkin’ ’bout Gucci this and Gucci that, n**** ‘Poppin’ paid Gucci back. I ain’t gotta speak on that, n**** RIAA print the plaques.” It’s the kind of bar that lands harder because he doesn’t need to raise his voice to make it hit.

The road into Until Then was paved with intent. Lead single “Hittin’ For,” backed by a Cash Jundi-directed visual sweeping through cityscapes and everyday moments, reintroduced Walk as an artist who’s locked in and moving with purpose. He followed it with “Forehead,” a Bankroll Got It-produced cut wrapped in a cinematic bank heist visual from Teo Shot This, all commanding performance and larger-than-life presence. Together, the two singles built the world Until Then lives in — grounded, evolved, and unmistakably his.

Across 16 tracks, Until Then captures BigWalkDog at his most focused. Street-rooted storytelling shares space with a more self-assured perspective, and features from DeeBaby (on the standout “Thoughts”) deepen the record without ever pulling the spotlight off Walk. Tracks like “Double Cup,” “The Plot,” “Young Dro,” “My Hood,” “On Ice,” “Sinners,” “Take It to Trial,” and a hard-nosed take on “Many Men” round out a project that feels less like a moment and more like a mission statement.

Walk’s résumé has been building toward this for years. From early independent momentum in Mississippi to a Gucci Mane cosign and a run with The New 1017 that produced Trick City and Playoff, to the RIAA Gold-certified “Poppin” with Gucci and “Whole Lotta Ice” alongside Lil Baby and Pooh Shiesty, he’s already logged the miles.
