If you thought the pick-up artist archetype had already been dragged through enough mud, PLAIINS are here to hand you a shovel and invite you to keep digging. The British-German alt punk trio just dropped “Look Ma, I’m a Don,” a venomous, ridiculously catchy new single that skewers the hollow bravado of modern hookup culture with a grin so wide it practically breaks the fourth wall.

Coming off the back of their acclaimed 2025 debut album Happy Faces and a collab with Italian producer Mazare on “DIGAF,” the band — Chris Reardon (vocals/guitars), Florian Kaninck (guitars), and Adrian Boog (bass) — have been steadily racking up over 3 million streams and earning nods from the likes of Kerrang! and Visions, who charmingly dubbed them “cartoonishly gobby.” That description feels especially apt here. “Look Ma, I’m a Don” pairs a Brit-pop-leaning chorus with the loose, unedited swagger of prime Libertines, all held together by a bass line Paul McCartney would probably tip his hat to.

The best moment? A cheeky “Say my name, say my name” Beyoncé lift that lands the joke perfectly — a character demanding recognition while treating everyone around him as disposable. As the band explains, the song’s narrator “sees himself as some kind of big-shot ‘Don,’ while in reality he’s just a hurt little boy trying to fill a void and earn recognition from his mum.” It’s a critique of the numbers-game mindset, delivered with a wink and a middle finger in equal measure.

PLAIINS aren’t slowing down either. The band have a stacked calendar of European festival dates this summer, a UK run this autumn, and a German tour this winter alongside Smile and Burn and The Pill hitting all the major cities.
