Luna Kills Return With Crushing New Single and Video “LOWER” — Watch Now
Finland’s Luna Kills aren’t wasting any time. Barely a year removed from their scorching 2025 album DEATHMATCH, the alternative metal quartet are already back with a brand new single and video titled “LOWER,” out now via SharpTone Records — and if you were worried they’d cool off after the album cycle, breathe easy: they’ve only gotten heavier.

“LOWER” is a study in contrast — a track that swings between soft, almost weightless moments and the sort of crushing low-end that will rattle your fillings loose. Frontwoman Lotta Ruutiainen, whose jazz-trained vocal range and fry screams have already earned Luna Kills a reputation as one of the most dynamic modern metal acts around, delivers a performance that feels genuinely vulnerable one second and completely unhinged the next.
The band explains the song’s core theme in their own words: “The lyrics of the song are about dealing with the feeling that you don’t belong anywhere. You feel the weight of not fitting into the expectations that society or others have placed upon you, or even the expectations you have for yourself. It makes you question your reality, and at the same time, you slowly begin to feel like you’re fading away piece by piece and turning into someone you don’t recognize. The song carries a theme — both in lyrics and music — about the contrast between the softness of accepting yourself and the world you have built around yourself and the crushing weight of a never leaving dread whispering whether you made the right choices.”
That push-pull between softness and dread is exactly what Luna Kills do best. Since forming in 2019, the group — Lotta Ruutiainen on vocals, Samuli Paasineva on guitar, Jimi Kinnunen on drums, and Lassi Peltonen on bass — has quietly become one of the most exciting exports in European heavy music, blending nu-metal aggression, alt-metal hooks, and video-game-inspired electronics into something that genuinely feels new. Their tracks have soundtracked the hit mobile game Beatstar, and standout singles like “WAVES,” “LEECH,” “sugar rush,” “slay ur enemies,” and “love u” have racked up a devoted following well beyond their Finnish home base.
“LOWER” continues that trajectory and then some. It’s a sharper, more cinematic Luna Kills — the production is huge, the dynamics are wider, and the emotional stakes feel more personal than ever. It’s the kind of song that hits equally hard in headphones at 2 a.m. and in a sweaty moshpit at a festival, which is convenient, because the band has plenty of festival appearances lined up.
Luna Kills have added new dates to their 2026 tour schedule, with major festival slots and headline shows across Europe, plus support runs with Future Palace and Vianova. If you’ve ever seen the band live, you know Lotta’s stage presence and the group’s chaotic-but-precise energy translate into some of the most memorable sets in modern metal right now.
Press play, turn it up, and let “LOWER” do what it’s designed to do — bring you to your knees before it drags you into the pit.
