Becca Hatch Turns Heartbreak Into Euphoria on New Single “Daylight Robbery”

Some heartbreaks whisper. Becca Hatch’s new single “Daylight Robbery” kicks the door in.

The proud Kamilaroi/Samoan artist has just dropped one of the most emotionally loaded tracks of her career, a cinematic R&B slow-burn that captures the messy, magnetic aftermath of a love that refuses to stay buried. Following the breakout wave of “Garden (Bang Goes The Drum),” “Daylight Robbery” is the sound of an artist tightening her grip on the Australian pop-R&B conversation.

Co-written with Patrick Byrne (Beso Palma), mixed by Cam Parkin and mastered by Klaus Hill, the track fuses Becca’s signature R&B instincts with electronic textures and bold, widescreen pop production. It is dramatic without being theatrical, vulnerable without being fragile, and it lands with the kind of gut-punch chemistry that only the best breakup songs can deliver.

At its core, “Daylight Robbery” is about the contradiction of still wanting someone you know is bad for you. It sits in that impossible tension between logic and longing, where memory becomes a haunting and chemistry becomes a crime scene.

“Daylight Robbery is about a love that leaves an imprint on you; someone you can’t forget, even if they might not be the best for you,” Becca explains. “It’s about being overtaken by feeling and impact. Like being hit suddenly in the face or the gut. Sometimes we meet people that leave a mark on us, and even after they’re gone, parts of them still linger. The song lives in that tension of knowing someone has the power to hurt you, but still feeling drawn to them anyway. There’s something addictive about connections like that and I wanted Daylight Robbery to feel emotional, dramatic and a little reckless.”

Reckless is the operative word. Becca Hatch has been quietly (and sometimes very loudly) building one of the most exciting resumes in Australian music. She is a 2024 NIMA Award winner, a multiple ARIA nominee, and the 2025 recipient of the APRA Professional Development Award. Her previous single “Garden (Bang Goes The Drum)” landed on 47 editorial playlists worldwide, including the covers of Spotify’s R&B Connect and Big Ancestor Energy, plus New Music Friday placements in more than 10 countries. Add to that a triple j first play on Home & Hosed, a full rotation add, 460+ radio spins across 40+ stations, and 130,000+ Spotify streams, and you have an artist who is very much not slowing down.

Then there are the stages. In late 2024, Coldplay personally invited Becca to perform her original verse on “We Pray” during two sold-out Sydney stadium shows in front of crowds exceeding 80,000. She has shared bills with Tinashe and Mahalia, and torn through sets at Beyond The Valley, Strawberry Fields and the NRL Half Time Show.

“Daylight Robbery” is the next chapter, and it feels like a statement. Becca Hatch is not just rising, she is arriving.

Press play, turn it up, and let it linger. That’s kind of the point.
