Australia’s underground rave scene just leveled up. SANDBOX, the electronic music brand that has spent the last four years turning Sydney warehouses into some of the country’s sweatiest, loudest and most emotionally charged dance floors, is officially going national. This September, the crew rolls out its first ever SANDBOX Festival across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, and if the buzz around their previous sold-out shows is anything to go by, this one is going to leave a mark.

What started as a Sydney warehouse series has grown into one of the most talked-about hard dance movements in the country, and the festival is the natural next step. Blending hard bounce, hard dance, hard techno and schranz, SANDBOX Festival is bringing a carefully curated mix of international heavyweights, Australian talent and several Australian debuts. The first lineup drop features JOVVYN, ZAPRAVKA and BEAUZ, with more names promised as the September dates edge closer.

Rather than following the traditional festival playbook, SANDBOX is leaning into what has made its warehouse events feel like a movement rather than a night out. Expect an experience designed to feel immersive from the moment you walk in, taking cues from European rave culture and the raw energy of underground warehouse parties. The signature boiler-room style format is being scaled up into a multi-city production built around connection, movement and atmosphere.

“SANDBOX Festival represents everything we’ve been building toward over the last four years,” the SANDBOX team said in a statement. “What started as a vision within Sydney club culture has evolved into a national movement built around music, connection and experience. This first edition is about creating something Australia can truly be proud of.”

The timing makes sense. Australian audiences have been gravitating toward harder, faster and more immersive rave experiences, and SANDBOX has quietly become the brand best positioned to serve that appetite. Every city on the tour will feature world-class sound systems from either L-Acoustics or d&b Audio Technik, and Sydney’s edition will expand across three stages, including dedicated spaces spotlighting emerging Australian artists. Lighting, stage design, sound and crowd connection are all clearly getting the same attention as the lineup itself.

SANDBOX has already hosted some of the biggest names in global electronic music, including Deborah De Luca, Eli Brown, Lilly Palmer, Shlømo, Trym, Cloudy, Restricted, Alignment, Will Sparks and Chris Liebing. That track record is a big part of why this national expansion feels less like a leap and more like an inevitability.
