Manchester’s finest purveyors of grit and groove, Guilt Trip, have officially dropped their new album Armour of Angels today, June 5, via Roadrunner Records — and it hits every bit as hard as the city that raised them.

The five-piece — Jay Valentine (vocals), Jak Maden (guitar), Sam Baker (guitar), Tom Aimson (drums), and Lily Kilcoyne (bass) — spent early 2025 holed up at StudioOWZ in Clarbeston, Wales with producer/engineer Adam “Nolly” Getgood (Periphery) to build a twelve-track monument to a decade of blood, sweat, and breakdowns. The result is a record that swings between throat-slitting thrash riffs, earth-splitting hardcore breakdowns, and unexpectedly striking melodies — the exact hybrid that earned them a “Future of Music 2026” nod from Rolling Stone UK.

To mark the release, the band has also unleashed a video for explosive album opener “One By One,” stitched together from footage of their Winter 2026 U.S. headline run with Malevolence — their first time topping a bill in America. We believe these songs embody our journey from the very beginning to now, everything we have experienced over the past decade translated into twelve tracks. The first of which is ‘One By One,’ just under 4 minutes of riffs, grooves, and aggression Guilt Trip have come to be known for.”

Critics are already sharpening their superlatives. Kerrang! handed the album a 4/5, noting, “What is a feat is trying to pick highlights on an album so stuffed with moments of quality.” Revolver simply called it “scorching.”

Release weekend is stacked. On Saturday, June 6, the band takes over The New Cross Manchester for the Armour of Angels x Adidas pop-up shop, showcasing their exclusive Guilt Trip x Adidas Superstar shoe. Then on Sunday, June 7, they play a philanthropy-driven, instantly sold-out show at Star & Garter in Manchester, with proceeds going to Lifeshare, Senior Staffy Club, Manchester Women’s Aid, and Andy’s Man Club.
