Las Vegas modern rock outfit Crashing Wayward are back with another blast of arresting, guitar-driven catharsis. Their new single ‘Going Blind’ drops June 19 via Golden Robot Records, and it’s the latest taste of their forthcoming six-song EP The Fight Within, due in the third quarter of 2026.

Built on David Harris’ hypnotic, angular guitar work and the band’s gale-force rhythm section, ‘Going Blind’ finds frontman Peter Summit painting a vivid, theatrical portrait of someone cornered by their own desperation. “My eyes they only see you / I’m going blind without you / I’ve seen the light outside / Fade in the dark at night,” he sings, turning what sounds like a love song inside-out.

“I wrote the lyrics to feel as if they were speaking of losing the love of your life,” Summit explains, “but for me it’s really about losing hope in yourself and the internal screams for help. I only write from what I have experienced or what comes from my own personal perspectives, so ‘Going Blind’ was not going to be any different.”

The track nearly took a very different shape. Just five days before Crashing Wayward hit the studio, producer Shawn McGhee (Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Strung Out) asked Harris to sketch some additional guitar melodies for the outro chorus. That prompt sparked a full-blown reinvention. “Before I knew it, I was tearing the arrangement apart and rebuilding it from the ground up,” Harris recalls. “Once everyone in the band sat with it, we all agreed the rewrite took the song to another level. It was a great example of how staying open to last-minute inspiration can completely change a song for the better.”

The accompanying music video, directed by Shane O’Neal and Deed DeBruno, was shot at a remote outdoor location just outside Las Vegas, leaning into the isolation baked into the song while capturing the band’s live-wire chemistry. “There are no gimmicks and no special effects, and we do not use AI in our videos,” Summit says. “All I want is to make sure the band’s performance and energy captured is just how we are live. We want to make everything that we do feel genuine by presenting the most authentic versions of ourselves.”

‘Going Blind’ joins previous EP singles ‘Holding For Dear Life’ — dubbed a “tight, groovy beefcake of a song” by Classic Rock magazine and named a reader-voted Track of the Week — and the blistering, anti-hate anthem ‘Bullet For A Heart.’ Together they set the stage for The Fight Within, an EP the band describes as songs that “speak a lot about life as we know it, reflecting outward to inward.”

Crashing Wayward are also hitting the road hard this summer, with dates in Ohio, Missouri, Texas, and New York including a stop at Inkcarceration Festival in Mansfield, OH on July 17.
