Evergrey Ignite “A Burning Flame” with Mikael Stanne as New Album ‘Architects Of A New Weave’ Arrives June 5

Swedish progressive metal masters Evergrey have lit the fuse on their fifteenth studio album with the release of the final pre-release single, “A Burning Flame.” The track — the last teaser before Architects Of A New Weave lands this Friday, June 5, 2026, via Napalm Records — pairs frontman Tom S. Englund with fellow Gothenburg lifer Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity, The Halo Effect, Grand Cadaver, Cemetery Skyline) in a duet that sounds exactly as heavyweight as that lineup implies.

Where a lot of guest features feel like a marketing checkbox, “A Burning Flame” plays like an actual conversation between two vocalists who genuinely respect each other’s phrasing. Stanne’s grit and Englund’s soaring melodic instincts trade lines and eventually braid together, giving the song that unmistakable Evergrey blend of cinematic gloom and stadium-sized uplift. The accompanying music video leans into the track’s dark, romantic weight without tipping into melodrama.

“We’re truly excited to release our new single, ‘A Burning Flame,’ featuring our friend and respected colleague Mikael Stanne,” Englund said of the collaboration. “It’s an absolute honor to have him lend his voice to an Evergrey song. ‘A Burning Flame’ is a powerful, catchy duet shaped by genuine mutual inspiration. Mikael and I let each other’s melodies guide the next lines, allowing the song to grow into a seamless, ever-flowing river of emotion. To me, it feels like a dark yet profoundly beautiful conversation — raw, honest, and full of life.”

Architects Of A New Weave was produced by Englund and Vikram Shankar, with mix duties handled by Adam “Nolly” Getgood. Across twelve tracks — including “Welcome To The Pattern,” “The Shadow Self,” the title cut “Architects Of The New Weave,” “The World Is On Fire,” “Heaven,” “Leaving The Emptiness,” and closer “The Prophecy” — the band leans into everything that has made them one of Sweden’s most reliable exporters of melodic, progressive dark metal: hooks that hit like sunlight through storm clouds, riffs with real bite, and vocals that refuse to flinch.

Deluxe editions expand the world further with a bonus album featuring “Heights,” “One Heart,” an album mix of the 2025 standalone single “OXYGEN!,” a demo version of “Longing,” instrumentals of both new songs, and a live version of “Falling From The Sun” from 2024’s Theories Of Emptiness.

“We’ve literally never had this much trouble picking singles. And honestly? That’s the best problem we could possibly have,” Englund said of the album. “Every song on this record is fighting to be the one you hear first — because we poured everything into making an album we’re flat-out obsessed with. Like always there are no fillers, no compromises, just twelve tracks we’re stupidly proud of and will be for the rest of our lives.”

The timing could hardly be sharper. Days after release, Evergrey step onstage as special guests to Iron Maiden on the Run For Your Lives World Tour (June 10 in Amsterdam and June 22 in Paris), sandwiched between a European headline run and festival stops at Sweden Rock, Mystic Festival, Graspop Metal Meeting, and Rockstadt Extreme Fest. This fall, they’ll cross North America as special guest to HammerFall on the Freedom World Crusade tour, running September 11 in Atlanta through October 8 in Seattle.
