Kingdom of Giants are back, and they’re not easing anyone in gently. The California metalcore crew just dropped the video for their new single “Respawn,” and it hits like a controller thrown across the room after a bad match — thick grooves, buzzsaw riffs, and the kind of raw kinetic energy that could power a small city grid.

“Respawn” is more than just a return single. It’s the first track to feature the band’s new lineup, welcoming JT Gutierrez on bass and vocals. And based on the chemistry captured on tape, this transition looks less like a reboot and more like a well-earned level-up.

“‘Respawn’ is the start of a new chapter for the band — and for me stepping in,” Gutierrez shared. “I’ve been working for 15 years trying to get to where I am today, and joining this band marks a turning point in my life that I will forever be grateful for. Working with the guys has been an incredibly smooth transition and they have become a very important part of my life. I couldn’t be more excited for what’s next.”

Vocalist Dana Willax is equally hyped about the new dynamic. “‘Respawn’ is my favorite KOG track in as long as I can remember and I’m so excited to have JT be a part of it. I absolutely love how diverse his voice is and how well we work together and contrast each other simultaneously.” Willax also pulled back the curtain on the song’s emotional weight, describing it as a dive “deep into a relationship that you know is wrong and unhealthy, yet you let that person back in for another chance even when they have proven themselves untrustworthy.”

It’s a heavy theme paired with an even heavier sound — and it lands exactly where it should. The interplay between Willax and Gutierrez gives “Respawn” a push-pull tension that keeps the track from ever settling into a predictable groove. If this is the opening salvo of a new era, Kingdom of Giants are setting the bar high for whatever comes next.
