Built on cataclysmic blast beats and ornately blackened guitarmonies from the master six-string duo of Alex Lee and Gabe Mangold, “Dead In The Water” is a masterclass in old-school DevilDriver aggression. Frontman Dez Fafara’s delivery remains as venomous as ever, but the message underneath the fury might surprise longtime listeners — this one’s about resilience, perseverance, and clawing your way back into the light.

“This is one of the most positive songs I’ve ever written lyrically, coming from a very dark time straight into blinding light,” Fafara explains. “I needed to empower others to do the same as I did, and tell them to ‘stay the course.’ Life turns around if given the chance to flourish. The vibe musically on this is very old school DevilDriver and the entire band is cracking hard here — if you’re a long time listener you’re gonna love this one!”

The new track follows lead single “Dig Your Own Grave,” which racked up over 400,000 cross-platform streams, planted its flag on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal, and stormed the Metal Contraband charts within a month of release. Safe to say, the DevilDriver faithful are eating this era up.

Strike and Kill arrives on the heels of the band’s career-defining double album Dealing With Demons Vols. 1 & 2 — Vol. 1 sat at #1 on metal radio for a staggering 15 weeks, while Vol. 2 drew rave reviews from Metal Injection, Kerrang!, and Blabbermouth. Across its 13 tracks, the new record leans into everything DevilDriver does best: melodeath elegance, blackened atmosphere, tectonic grooves, and Fafara’s iconic snarl. DevilDriver hit the road this August for a massive North American headlining run, kicking off August 14 at San Diego’s Observatory North Park and wrapping September 5 at Anaheim’s House of Blues, with stops in Las Vegas, Austin, Chicago, Salt Lake City, and more along the way.
