If you’ve been longing for the days when hard rock came with sky-scraping choruses, arena-sized keyboards, and enough hairspray to punch a hole in the ozone, Sweden’s NESTOR has been quietly (okay, loudly) making the case that the ’80s never really left. Now the melodic hard rock force is doubling down with their first-ever live album — and they’re kicking the door open with a nostalgia-soaked live rendition of fan-favorite “On The Run.”

The track is the first single from “Live At Gothenburg Film Studios,” due August 14 via Napalm Records. Originally featured on NESTOR’s celebrated 2021 debut “Kids In A Ghost Town,” “On The Run” has racked up millions of streams and remains one of the band’s biggest hits. In this live form, the AOR-drenched keys, soaring guitars, and one of the catchiest singalong choruses in the band’s arsenal all hit even harder.

“We are super thrilled to release our live album ‘Live At Gothenburg Film Studios’ with ‘On The Run’ as the first single leading the way into our universe,” vocalist Tobias Gustavsson says. “I think this album captures NESTOR in our natural habitat: loud, heartfelt, unapologetically dramatic, and somehow both nostalgic and new at the same time. Originally formed in 1989 and reborn with their 2021 comeback debut, NESTOR have shared stages with the likes of Kiss and Europe, headlined tours across Europe, and even made the trek to Japan. “Live At Gothenburg Film Studios” pulls from their growing catalogue of arena-ready anthems and heart-on-sleeve ballads across a hefty 16 tracks, including live takes on “Firesign,” latest studio title track “Teenage Rebel,” and, of course, “On The Run.”

“When I listen to ‘Live At Gothenburg Film Studios,’ it becomes clear to me that it shows everything that NESTOR was about, from the beginning,” Gustavsson adds. “A live performance with all the little quirks and mistakes that makes it human — a thing that I have learned to love even more in an era of AI-generated music. It’s less clinical and more of a human experience in comparison to our studio albums, and shows a different side of NESTOR.”
