Milwaukee’s independent music scene doesn’t need a co-sign from the coasts — it just needs a stage big enough to hold it. On June 18, 2026, MuSample hands over that stage as the 3rd Annual MKE Live Groove Summerfest Edition takes over the Aurora Pavilion from 12:00 PM to 2:45 PM, tucked right inside one of the largest music festivals on the planet.

This year’s edition is a genuine community production. Before a single mic was checked, 2,118 fans cast votes to help whittle a field of 24 hopefuls down to the top 11 — a level of civic engagement most city council races would kill for. The result is a 17-artist lineup that stretches across hip-hop, R&B, soul, and the kind of genre-blending live performance that has quietly made Milwaukee one of the Midwest’s most interesting music cities.

The main lineup features Grey Genius, Aya, Nakara Forjè, Tae Spears, Kaylon Raps, Tyler Curtain, Kennaye, Johnny Franchino, The Don and Friends, Melotuned, Cristvno, and SilkE Dot Jose. Balancing the veterans, the showcase also carves out real estate for the next generation with youth performances by Inferno January, Aleki, Luh Mooski, and CJ Jayy.

“MKE Live Groove is about creating a platform where Milwaukee artists can be seen, heard, and celebrated on a major stage,” said the founder of MuSample. “Year three represents growth — not just in the event, but in the community we’re building around live music, collaboration, and opportunity. The response from over two thousand voters shows that people are paying attention and invested in what we’re building.”

That community-first ethos is what separates MKE Live Groove from the typical festival side-stage exercise. By dropping a locally curated, fan-voted showcase into the middle of Summerfest — a festival that pulls hundreds of thousands of attendees, industry pros, and cameras every summer — MuSample is essentially handing homegrown artists a passport to a much bigger conversation without asking them to leave home to get it.
