Shinedown Unleash ‘EI8HT’: The Anthemic New Album Cementing Their Status as “Everyone’s Band”
Two decades in, most bands are content to coast on nostalgia. Shinedown, apparently, never got that memo.
Today, the Jacksonville-formed rock juggernaut officially released their long-teased eighth studio album, EI8HT, via Atlantic Records — and if the 91 million pre-release streams weren’t enough of a hint, this thing was built to detonate. Eighteen tracks deep, produced by bassist Eric Bass at his own Big Animal Studio in Charleston, EI8HT is the sound of a band with nothing left to prove throwing everything at the wall anyway, from arena-sized hooks to gut-punch confessionals.

To celebrate the drop, Shinedown is hosting a global livestream event today at 12:30 PM ET, broadcast live from the Hard Rock Cafe in Tampa, FL, featuring an exclusive Q&A with the band hosted by DJ Rock Feed. Immediately after, at 1:30 PM ET, they’ll premiere the official music video for the album’s next single, “Young Again.”

Directed by Andrew Donoho, the “Young Again” video is a high-energy love letter to those streetlight-lit nights that end up defining who we become — a reminder to stop scrolling long enough to notice the moment you’re actually living in. It’s the kind of song Shinedown has quietly perfected: emotionally earnest without ever tipping into sap, and loud enough to soundtrack the drive home afterward.
The record lands during what can only be described as a historic run for the four-piece. “Safe And Sound” just extended Shinedown’s own all-time records, notching their 23rd #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart and a record-extending 25th #1 on Mediabase’s Active Rock chart. Add in a grand finale performance on American Idol, a headlining slot at Sonic Temple, and back-to-back Rock Artist of the Year wins at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, and you start to see why frontman Brent Smith keeps calling this an album made for everyone.
“From the very beginning, this band has always been about people,” Smith says. “This album was built for everyone. No matter where you come from, what you believe, what you’re carrying, or what you’re trying to overcome, there’s something in this record for you. We’ve never wanted to make music that excludes people. We want people to feel seen in it.”
The EI8HT tracklist reads like a setlist waiting to happen: “At The Bottom,” “Dance, Kid, Dance,” “Burning Down The Disco,” “Three Six Five,” “Young Again,” “Dizzy,” “Imposter,” “Machine Gun,” “Outlaw,” “Safe And Sound,” “Searchlight,” “Bear With Me,” “Deep End,” “Killing Fields,” “Back To The Living,” “Wide Open,” “So Glad That You Asked,” and closer “The Pilot.” Pre-release singles alone — including the crossover monster “Three Six Five,” which hit #1 at Alternative radio while climbing Hot AC and Top 40 — have already racked up over 91 million streams.
Shinedown (Brent Smith on vocals, Zach Myers on guitar, Eric Bass on bass and production, and Barry Kerch on drums) will carry EI8HT straight into the Dance, Kid, Dance Act II World Tour, a 50+ date global run spanning 11 countries across North America, the UK, and Europe. In keeping with their long-running philanthropic streak, the band is donating $1 from every ticket sold to City of Hope, the leading cancer research and treatment organization.
With over 8.3 billion global streams, 10 million albums sold, and more #1s on the Billboard Mainstream Rock and Mediabase Active Rock charts than any artist in history, Shinedown has done the seemingly impossible: gotten bigger, sharper, and more emotionally connected the deeper they get into their career. EI8HT isn’t a victory lap. It’s a reintroduction.
Press play, turn it up, and get your tickets before the mosh pit fills up.
