Southpaw FLHC Drop Bruising “Run Game” Video, Announce New Album ‘The Standard’ Out July 31 via Spinefarm

Hardcore lifers, take note: Jacksonville’s own Southpaw FLHC are done knocking on the door — they’re kicking it clean off the hinges. The band just dropped the music video for “Run Game,” a chest-caving new single from their upcoming album The Standard, arriving July 31 via Spinefarm.

From the jump, “Run Game” leans into a chunky, chugga-chugga ’90s-inspired breakdown before erupting into a communal, fists-in-the-air chorus that begs to be shouted back from the pit. It’s the kind of track that doesn’t so much end as it does keep punching until the fadeout finally taps out.

“It’s a tip of the hat to those who move correct and a message to those who lead in their field,” the band — Alan King (guitar), Harrison Linder (drums), Marc Laroche (bass), and Daryn LaMontagne (vocals) — says of the song. “‘Run Game’ is for the wise, the fearless, and the devoted.”

That ethos runs through the whole record. “All gas, no brakes. Driven by hunger, discipline, and a relentless passion for the love of the game. This is The Standard,” the band declares of the ten-track LP, which features guest vocals from Eric Ellis on “The Path” and includes previously released cuts “Rolling Stone,” “TTG,” and “Torches.”

The Standard tracklist:
1. Rolling Stone
2. Run Game
3. TTG
4. Nail In The Coffin
5. The Gavel
6. Torches
7. The Path (feat. Eric Ellis)
8. Play The Fool
9. The Standard
10. DTWD

Southpaw FLHC have been building their reputation the old-fashioned way — brick by brick, van tour by van tour — since dropping their self-titled EP in 2020. Bridging the gap between the old and new schools of hardcore with elements of punk, metal, and hip hop, they’ve shared stages with With Blood Comes Cleansing, Bodysnatcher, Tracheotomy, Surfaced, and Hoods, and headlined a 2025 run with Cutthroats, Kind Eyes, Unvow, and Resistor. Their global partnership with Spinefarm — home to Sleep Token, Bullet For My Valentine, Dayseeker, and Atreyu — signals that the next level is well within reach.

“Southpaw is all about never giving in — being able to stare in the face of defeat and not allowing it to take you down,” LaMontagne says. “We want to be a sign of strength for people no matter what they’re going through, regardless of race, political party, or anything else. Southpaw is for everybody.”

To celebrate the album, the band will kick off a late summer headline tour with a record release show at Jacksonville’s brand new venue Hardlove on August 1, before hitting the road across the South, Midwest, and East Coast through mid-September.
