AXTY Unleash Crushing New Single “nothing but pain” Ahead of Napalm Records Debut Album

Brazilian metalcore trio AXTY are wasting zero time cementing their status as one of the most exciting new acts in heavy music. Fresh off high-profile tour runs supporting genre heavyweights like The Browning, Born of Osiris, and Lacuna Coil, the band has unleashed their latest gut-punch of a single, “nothing but pain” — and it hits exactly as hard as the title suggests.

The track is the newest cut from their forthcoming album, The Pain Made Me Who I Am, which arrives August 21 via Napalm Records. It’s a savage collision of infectious hooks and earth-shattering grooves, dragging the nostalgic weight of nu-metal into a modern deathcore battlefield. In other words: it slaps, it stomps, and it will absolutely wreck your neck.

Frontman Felipe Hervoso doesn’t sugarcoat the song’s headspace, describing “nothing but pain” as “a raw, zero-filtering look at what it means to completely lose hope and struggle for survival.” He continues, “It leans hard into the darkest aspects of mental anguish, capturing the suffocating feeling of being dragged under by your own thoughts. It is a straightforward, uncompromising track built for anyone who appreciates music with real, messy, and authentic human emotion.”

Across its 12 tracks, The Pain Made Me Who I Am doubles down on themes of self-evolution, resilience, and turning personal wreckage into rocket fuel. From the crushing hip-hop-tinged intro of “pain made me” to the polyrhythmic deathcore assault of “who I am,” and the alt/nu-metal flavored album closer “end this,” AXTY prove they’re not just riding a trend — they’re helping shape the next wave of modern metalcore.

“The Pain Made Me Who I Am revolves around human emotions, particularly the darker, more difficult ones,” the band explains. “However, rather than dwelling on suffering, we focused on the role these emotions play in personal growth and self-evolution. Resilience born from adversity, the idea that growth and self-discovery are deeply rooted in struggle — we wanted to explore how negative experiences, rather than defining us in a limiting way, become the very foundation of who we are.”

Between Hervoso’s shape-shifting vocal arsenal (clean crooning one second, superhuman shrieks the next), drummer Gabriel Vacari’s hypnotic patterns, and guitarist Jonathas Peschiera’s erratic six-string acrobatics, AXTY are firing on every cylinder. If “nothing but pain” is any indication of what The Pain Made Me Who I Am has in store, the metalcore world had better clear a spot at the top.
