John PayCheck & Struggle Jennings Ignite an Outlaw Revival with “Sons Of The Spark” — Studio Video Drops May 29

Some songs don’t need major label muscle or corporate radio spins to find their audience — they just need to be true. That’s exactly the case with “Sons Of The Spark,” the surging new collaboration from independent country artists John PayCheck and Struggle Jennings, out now via HorseBite Entertainment. Released on May 15, the track has already racked up more than 20,000 streams in its first week and earned a coveted spot on Holler’s New Country Songs Spotify playlist — proof that outlaw country is very much alive and kicking outside the Music Row machine.

Now the pair are turning up the heat with the official studio music video, premiering May 29 on John PayCheck’s YouTube channel. Watch the preview here: https://www.youtube.com/@JohnPayCheck

“Sons Of The Spark” isn’t a novelty pairing — it’s a bloodline summit. PayCheck, son of the late outlaw icon Johnny PayCheck, has spent years quietly building a career on traditional country authenticity rather than trend-chasing, and this release finds him leaning further into his musical DNA than ever. Jennings — grandson of Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter — brings the raw, redemption-forged, genre-blending swagger that has made him one of independent music’s most magnetic voices, with an RIAA Gold plaque and a #1 Billboard chart entry already on his mantle.

The story behind the song is as unscripted as the music itself. “This song was something that happened by chance between Struggle and me,” PayCheck said. “We met at a holiday party, talked about doing something together, and were in touch pretty quickly. Man, it sure was a good time! We have a lot more in common than some might think: growing up wasn’t easy for us, we both had our own demons to deal with, and we learned some hard family lessons.”

Written by PayCheck and Jennings and recorded at Gnome Studios with producer Bill McDermott (George Strait, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley), “Sons Of The Spark” is a plainspoken meditation on legacy, expectation, and the stubborn work of carving out your own path when the shadow behind you is famous. It’s the sound of two artists who understand what it means to be measured against giants — and choose to keep swinging anyway.

The song also arrives at the perfect cultural moment. Independent outlaw country is having a full-blown renaissance, and this collaboration lands squarely in that sweet spot — pairing PayCheck’s traditional country roots with Jennings’ Southern rap and Americana crossover pull. It’s the kind of song that reminds you why the outlaw movement mattered in the first place: because the truth doesn’t need permission.

Fans won’t have to wait long to hear it live, either. PayCheck’s 2026 Better Plan Tour is bound for more than 25 U.S. states and 40 cities, with stops from Phoenix and Salt Lake City to Kansas City, Houston, Nashville-adjacent haunts, and small-town honky-tonks across the map. Highlights include Knuckleheads in Kansas City (June 11), The Continental Club in Houston (June 19), WoodSongs at Scottish Rite Hall in Lexington (Aug. 31), and 11th St. Cowboy Bar in Bandera (Nov. 7).

An anticipated third PayCheck album is expected in late 2026, with singles rolling out all year long. If “Sons Of The Spark” is any indication of what’s coming, the outlaw revival isn’t a trend — it’s a takeover.

Stream “Sons Of The Spark” now on your DSP of choice, and tune in May 29 for the official studio video premiere.
