AUDIO: Vacant Voice – “Caretaker’s Curse”

Wisconsin metalcore outfit Vacant Voice is back with another skull-rattling single, and this time they’ve recruited New York heavyweights VCTMS to amplify the chaos. “Caretaker’s Curse” dropped last week, and if you haven’t pressed play yet, consider this your formal invitation to get wrecked.

Coming out of the Racine-Milwaukee corridor, Vacant Voice has been steadily building a reputation as one of the hardest-working heavy bands in the region. Their live presence at spots like X-Ray Arcade and their recent Milwaukee Metal Fest slot have solidified their standing in Wisconsin’s thriving metal scene. With frontman Sean Madden’s guttural delivery trading blows alongside the melodic counterpoints from guitarist Mikeal Dollak Posch, the five-piece has found a formula that hits like a freight train on every release.

“Caretaker’s Curse” clocks in just over three minutes, but don’t let the runtime fool you—this thing is relentless. The track brims with explosive energy, propelled by punishing riffs and a mid-tempo groove that allows every breakdown to land with maximum impact. Adding VCTMS into the mix was a smart choice; the collaboration amplifies the track’s intensity while maintaining the raw, unpolished edge that makes Vacant Voice so compelling in the first place.

If you’re into bands who play like they have something to prove every single time they step into a room (or a studio), Vacant Voice should already be on your radar. “Caretaker’s Curse” is just the latest evidence that this crew isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
