Brian Hunsaker Premieres “Lie To You” at Metal Injection — New EP ‘Where Dreamers Fall’ Arrives Autumn 2026
Some records are born in million-dollar studios. Others are born in a Ford Freestyle parked somewhere in Plano, Texas, on a 45-minute lunch break. Brian Hunsaker’s new single “Lie To You” — premiering today exclusively at Metal Injection — falls firmly into the second category, and honestly, it might be all the better for it.
The Texas-based guitarist, vocalist, and composer is previewing the second taste of his forthcoming EP Where Dreamers Fall, due Autumn 2026. If the phrase “recorded in a car” conjures Tenacious D goofing off in a photo booth, adjust your expectations. This is a full-bodied slab of melodic heavy metal — soaring vocals, cinematic guitar work, and the kind of hook-forward songwriting that made bands like Dio and prime-era Queensrÿche essential listening.

“‘Lie To You’ reflects on a relationship where communication has completely broken down on both sides,” Hunsaker explains. “It explores that moment when honesty is no longer received well, and you resort to lies simply to avoid confrontation — only to realize that it’s deepening the disconnect. Ultimately, it’s about how avoiding difficult truths feels easier in the moment, but it’s what ends up destroying a connection completely.”
The Car EP, as Hunsaker affectionately calls Where Dreamers Fall, is a story about resilience as much as it is about riffs. After a two-year musical silence spent raising newborn twins, Hunsaker was pulled back to music by the sudden passing of his best friend — the same person who first put a guitar in his hands in high school. With no time at home and no access to a traditional studio, the driver’s seat became a sanctuary. Vocal coach Susan Carr helped sharpen his instrument for the demanding new material, and the resulting takes — cut on lunch breaks between fatherhood shifts — were handed off to acclaimed producer Matt Dougherty (Megadeth, Disturbed, Staind), who mixed and mastered the EP at Side Door.
“The entire 5-song EP Where Dreamers Fall is essentially a ‘Car EP’ — I tracked the core vocals and guitars in my Ford Freestyle during lunch breaks,” Hunsaker says. “Being a new father of twins, that was the only way I could make progress on my songs at all. What you hear on the final version still has those car-recorded vocals and guitar tracks, polished by Matt Dougherty into absolute quality releases.”
“Lie To You” features Hunsaker on vocals and guitar, with Diego Palma on keys, Clif Chambliss on bass, and Tony DelVecchio on drums. Lyrics are co-written by Hunsaker and Philip Alan Laws.
Hunsaker is no stranger to the metal underground. His debut single “Haunted” earned him tags like “melodic heavy metal juggernaut” and “lost gem from rock’s golden age, reforged for the modern stage,” with coverage in TJPL News Magazine, The Big Takeover, the UK’s Fireworks Magazine, and features on the globally syndicated Metal Madness Weekly podcast. Before Texas, he built a formidable reputation in the Seattle scene with his instrumental album Across the Galaxy, his band Triaxe, and his stint in the Dio tribute Stand Up & Shout — even landing viral holiday metal parodies on 99.9 KISW.
