Olive Vox Unleash Volatile New Single “We Are Not The Same” Ahead of Summer Tour With The Toadies
Texas alt-rock quartet Olive Vox don’t really do “soft landings.” Their new single, “We Are Not The Same,” released via Big Machine Rock, is the latest in a string of jagged, emotionally bruised tracks that have turned the band into one of the more compelling acts in the modern alternative rock conversation. Following BABYDOLL, T.A.N.G.O, Dying Breath, and 14 Years, the new song doubles down on everything that’s been working: sharp-edged hooks, post-punk tension, and lyrics that read like screenshots of a 2 a.m. argument you wish you could take back.
“We Are Not The Same” sits in the rubble of a relationship that collapsed under its own emotional weight. The band describe it as an “honest portrait of the guilt and resentment that surface when you realize you were the storm in someone else’s sky” – and that internal whiplash between regret and defensiveness powers the entire track. Vocalist Parker James swings between longing and bitterness while guitarist Caden Shea, bassist Ben Reid, and drummer Dayton Phillips lock into the kind of livewire chemistry that’s become Olive Vox’s calling card.

The momentum behind the release is hard to ignore. Olive Vox have already crossed 834,000 cross-platform streams and over 1.3 million YouTube views, fueled by relentless touring with Badflower and Raue, viral traction from their 2024 Cage The Elephant cover, and a growing pull with younger alt-rock listeners who’ve adopted the band as one of their own.
That trajectory only steepens from here. In July, the band heads to Camp Woodward (July 5-11) as featured guests and mentors in the music program, before launching into a packed summer-to-fall run supporting The Toadies starting August 6 in Charleston, SC.
