One Machine Make Japan Debut and Hit Europe With Becky Baldwin of Mercyful Fate on “East To West” Tour 2026
Strap in, metalheads — One Machine are about to circle the globe. The technically-minded shredders are launching their “East To West” 2026 tour with a full-blown Japanese debut before flipping the map and tearing across Europe. And yes, there’s a lineup twist that should make any metal nerd grin: Becky Baldwin of Mercyful Fate is stepping in on bass for the European leg.
The Japanese run kicks off on May 20 at Space Odd in Tokyo, where One Machine will throw down two consecutive nights opening for prog-death titans Obscura, with Fallujah also on the bill. From there, it’s a quick sprint through Nagoya’s 3 Star Imaike on May 22 and Osaka’s Score Factory on May 23. For a band making its first-ever Japan appearance, opening for Obscura on a four-date run is the kind of debut most bands only daydream about.
Once the Japan leg wraps, One Machine heads west — fittingly enough — for a five-date European run supporting the one and only Tim “Ripper” Owens. The Ripper dates start May 26 at Meisenfrei in Bremen, Germany, then roll through DVG Club in Kortrijk (5/27), South of Heaven in Bilzen (5/28), Musicon in The Hague (5/29), and wrap at Soundcheck One in Waldbronn, Germany on May 30.
Here’s where it gets interesting: longtime bassist Stefano Selvatico will hold down the low end in Japan, but a family matter is pulling him home before the European leg. Enter Becky Baldwin — Mercyful Fate’s bassist and a respected road warrior in her own right — who’s stepping in to keep things locked tight across Europe.
“Unfortunately due to a personal commitment I am unable to join the band for the European leg of the East To West Tour supporting Ripper Owens… but fear not! Filling in on bass is the incredibly talented Becky Baldwin. See you on the road again soon,” Selvatico said.
Baldwin added, “I’m really looking forward to stepping in to play with One Machine for a week in Europe. I’ve known this band for many years and it’s great that our paths have crossed once again, this time for a tour with the mighty Tim Ripper Owens! See you on the road.”
It’s the kind of pinch-hit move that only works when everyone involved already speaks the same musical language — and given Baldwin’s pedigree and One Machine’s precision-engineered attack, this is going to be one tight European run.
