Jorja Smith Returns with New Single and Video “What’s Done Is Done”

Ten years on from “Blue Lights,” Jorja Smith isn’t in the mood for a victory lap. She’s in the mood for a clean break — and “What’s Done Is Done,” her new single out now, is the sound of her drawing the line in permanent marker.

A New Chapter, Not a Retrospective

Released alongside an official video directed by longtime collaborator KC Locke, “What’s Done Is Done” finds one of British music’s most distinctive voices at her most direct and self-assured. Produced by acclaimed London beatmaker P2J, the track threads subtle percussion and atmospheric electronic textures around a rich, soulful vocal that traces the push-pull between hurt, acceptance and hard-won resolve. It is understated, assured and quietly powerful — a fresh sonic direction that still carries the emotional honesty that has long defined Jorja’s songwriting.

Where a lesser artist might have used a ten-year anniversary as an excuse to look backward, Jorja uses it as a launchpad. The song is built around finality, release and self-possession: a message about reclaiming power and accepting what cannot be undone.

A Video That Feels Like a Real Night Out

KC Locke’s accompanying visual captures the feeling of a full night out with friends, moving between rave scenes, block parties, quiet rooftop moments and solitary transit shots. The result is loose, lived-in and unmistakably London — the visual equivalent of thinking about heartbreak while losing yourself in the crowd.

It helps that the cast is the real thing. The video features appearances from Jorja’s actual friends, family and collaborators, including AJ Tracey, Knucks, Novelist, Nadia Rose, Wohdee, Specs Gonzales, Remi Burgz, Manchester dance collective Trend Kids and The “Blue Lights” Choir. The familiarity isn’t styled in — it’s earned, reflecting the communities that have stayed central to her world from day one.

A Milestone Year, Still Climbing

The single caps a milestone run for Jorja in 2026. She performed on the debut season of Saturday Night Live UK earlier this spring, appeared on the soundtrack for Riz Ahmed’s Prime Video series Bait with “Price Of It All,” and was announced as co-headliner of All Points East in Victoria Park on August 21 alongside Tems.

“What’s Done Is Done” doesn’t sound like an artist closing a chapter so much as one calmly turning the page. Press play, then go make peace with whatever you needed to leave behind.
