Keith Urban Trades Stadium Sparks for Sunscreen with Dreamy “Steal Away” Cover Ahead of Yacht Rock Album ‘Flow State’
Pour yourself something cold, kick the shoes off, and cue the captain’s hat — Keith Urban has officially set sail. The four-time GRAMMY winner just released his shimmering cover of Robbie Dupree’s 1980 soft-rock staple “Steal Away,” and it’s the kind of sun-drenched, salt-air sigh of relief that practically begs for a beach chair and a blender drink.
The single is the latest preview of Urban’s upcoming 13th studio album, Flow State, a full-on yacht rock love letter arriving June 12 via MCA. Produced by Urban alongside longtime collaborator Dann Huff and recorded at Urban’s own “The Sound” studio in Nashville, the project finds the country superstar leaning all the way into the smooth, breezy textures that ruled FM radio in the late ’70s and early ’80s — and frankly, the loafers fit him just fine.
Urban’s take on “Steal Away” trades the original’s wistful AM-radio glow for a more spacious, modern shimmer, his unmistakable guitar tone gliding across the verses like a catamaran across glass water. It’s nostalgic without being a karaoke job — a reinterpretation that respects the source material while reminding you exactly why Urban is one of the most musical musicians in country.

Flow State is stacked with the smoothest cuts of the era. The tracklist runs through “Baby Come Back,” “Just the Two of Us,” “Summer Breeze,” “Magnet and Steel” featuring Little Big Town, “How Much I Feel,” “I Just Wanna Stop,” and “Guitar Man” featuring John Mayer. The lone original on the record, “We Go Back,” features a duet with the patron saint of yacht rock himself, Michael McDonald. If that pairing alone doesn’t sell you, check your pulse.
