Motörhead Announce 20th Anniversary Edition of ‘Kiss of Death’ with Expanded Double LP, 2CD, and Unreleased 2007 Lowlands Festival Concert

Strap in, because the loudest band in the world is about to get a little louder. Motörhead have announced a 20th Anniversary Edition of their 18th studio album, Kiss of Death, arriving as an expanded double LP and 2CD package that finally gives one of the band’s most underrated records the deluxe treatment it deserves.

Originally released in 2006, Kiss of Death picked up exactly where 2004’s Inferno left off — Lemmy’s growl front and center, Phil Campbell carving riffs like a chainsaw with a grudge, and Mikkey Dee turning every snare hit into a warning shot. Two decades on, the album still feels like a no-frills mission statement from a band who never had any interest in pulling punches. Cuts like “Sucker,” “Trigger,” and the fan-favourite “God Was Never On Your Side” remain some of the heaviest songs in the Motörhead catalogue, and the album’s guest spots from Mike Inez (Alice in Chains) and C.C. DeVille (Poison) only sweeten the deal.

For this anniversary edition, the album has been newly half-speed mastered from the original tapes — which, if you’re the type of person who argues about vinyl pressings on the internet, is exactly the news you’ve been waiting for. The package also includes fresh liner notes from Classic Rock’s Dave Ling, written as a tribute to the late, great Phil Campbell, whose contributions to this record and the broader Motörhead legacy are impossible to overstate.

The real headline-grabber, though, is the bonus live LP: a previously unreleased radio broadcast of Motörhead’s 2007 set at Lowlands Festival in Biddinghuizen, Netherlands, available on vinyl for the very first time. Across sides C and D, the band tear through classics like “Stay Clean,” “Killers,” “Metropolis,” “Killed by Death,” and — of course — “Ace of Spades.” The CD edition sweetens the pot further with three bonus tracks, including a live version of “R.A.M.O.N.E.S.” and a blistering take on “Whiplash.”

To mark the announcement, Motörhead have unveiled a brand-new official lyric video for “God Was Never On Your Side,” created by Andy Pilkington, plus a sneak peek of “Killed by Death” from the Lowlands performance — both available now on all streaming platforms.
