AUDIO: RM – Right Person, Wrong Place
Spearheaded by the success of the hit single “Come Back to Me”, BTS frontman RM’s new release has a worldly presence and timeless construction that deserves the same sensational attention that his previous work received. Considering both analog & digital-age feelings, RM (formerly Rap Monster, now less genre-defined) creates a genuine expression of passion for both art and the human experience, rather than just hunting for billboard hits. Seen in phases throughout the album such as the three-track-run from “Groin”, “Heaven” and “LOST!”, RM’s range and seamless transition of sounds and feelings are on full display. “Groin” is a word-heavy and heavy-worded hip-hop track, “Heaven” recoils in tone for a wistful and wailing indie track, and “LOST!” finds itself somewhere in the middle with lyricism and vocals on par with any pop star on the globe. For those who were lured in by the single, RM cleverly asks in the penultimate track “ㅠㅠ (Credit Roll)”; “when the credits roll, do you hang tight?” just before the “Come Back to Me” plays the album out. While capitalizing on popularity and seizing control of his destiny in the music world, “Right Person, Wrong Place” dares viewers to look deeper into both the artist and themselves and embrace the ambient maelstrom of feelings that we call our lives.
