Shnay Sings About How Scary It Is to Still Be with Your Ex in ‘Nightmare’
Based in Montreal, Shnay is a 21-year old artist who has been making music since he was 16 years old. His sound doesn’t lie in one genre as it intersects between hip-hop, pop, and RnB. He shares, “I’m finally at a point where I feel like my music is good enough to be taken seriously, so I want to get it out there as much as possible.”
Some of Shnay’s musical influences are Kyle, Quinn XCII, Bryce Vine, Luke Christopher, and Juice WRLD. He has been listening to them throughout the years, and they have inspired him with his music.
His single, ‘Nightmare,’ is a cross-genre track between hip-hop and pop. The story of the lyrics plays around a topic that’s very relatable to a lot of people. Shnay says, “I feel like a lot of people think about still being with their exes, and that scares them half to death.”
When making a song, Shnay finds a beat that he vibes with first. Then, he comes up with a chorus/hook right away because he feels like the “oomph” of the song lies in it. For the verses, he freestyles while he records.
