AUDIO: The Smudge – “Knever Alwaze”

The Smudge has been making noise projects and multimedia art for the better part of two decades, and his latest track, “Knever Alwaze”, feels like an exercise in minimalism. Armed with a Korg synth, a mic and amplifier, we get a track initially built around a plunking bass line, that continues to grow and evolve over the course of seven minutes. By the time you reach the end of the track, you’re nowhere near the sounds of when you started this journey. Everything from twisting noises to ambient tones make an appearance in between, and for a noise release, it feels slightly more rhythmic than most. Check out “Knever Alwaze” below:
