AUDIO: Death – “North Street”
If you ever get a spare hour and a half, and you love music, especially punk, watch A Band Called Death on Netflix. The documentary talks about the incredible lost story of Death, a group of three brothers from Detroit, who were making punk music years before any of the other early punk bands were formed. Shortly before frontman David Hackney’s death, he told his brothers that the world would come looking for the Death tapes someday. Indeed, they did. The result was “… For The World To See”, which was recorded circa 1979, but released on Drag City Records in 2009. Now, the band has more archived material, due out as “Death III” on Drag City in the near future. There will also be a 7″ with this song and 1992’s “We’re Gonna Make It”, one of the last songs that brothers Dannis and Bobby recorded with David before his death.
