Red Bull Interskate

Not too long ago, we got the privilege of hearing about a super-secret, one off pop up skateboarding contest that Red Bull was throwing. When I say super secret, I mean we were told that the estimated crowd was “like, 100 people tops.” That was about right, as Red Bull brought the Interskate contest through Estabrook Park, the skater-built DIY skate spot that is a hidden gem of the Milwaukee skateboarding scene. Teams from Familia, Uprise, No Coast, and Milwaukee’s Phase II Skateshop represented their home cities, and the winners of the controlled chaos went to the next city in a luxury RV. The losing team, however, was forced to take a Fiat for four(-ish.)

Minneapolis’ Familia Skateshop took the win at Estabrook, thanks to some massive tricks over the China Banks-esque bench that had recently been laid down by Aaron from Sky High Skate Shop and Bill from Cream City Skatepark. Props to everyone that came out and skated in the cold, though, including Phase II, who took second in their home spot. Also, thanks to Red Bull for inviting us out!
