Milwaukee Artist of the Week – 3/15/13 – Dana Coppafeel / SPEAK Easy

Are you a Milwaukee musician/band? You can submit your music to be the Milwaukee Artist of the Week by emailing links to info@BreakingAndEntering.net. We’ll check out every submission we get!

While normally we only feature one Milwaukee Artist of the Week, we have to choose two this time: Dana Coppa and SPEAK Easy. We’re doing this because of the incredible amount of success that these two have seen as a duo, and their EP hasn’t even come out yet. That being said, both are very talented emcees on their own, as well.

The buzz around their upcoming EP is enormous already. The duo released a video for “One of These Kids” featuring Prophetic, and it made its way to MTV Hive. That alone is a tremendous success. The video, wonderfully shot and edited by Xavier Ruffin, amassed thousands of views in a short amount of time. If that wasn’t enough, yesterday Rolling Stone picked up “This Is Us”, another track from the EP. Things are looking great for the EP, set to release on Uni-Fi Records in April.

As solo artists, both carry their own styles and do it well. SPEAK Easy’s latest release, “Need I Say More”, was well received, getting attention from DJBooth.net amongst various other outlets. Dana Coppa has also had some recent success, including a recent video with RiFF RaFF and Action Bronson that is nearing 500,000 views. That wasn’t a typo. With that said, we, as well as you, should be excited to hear what their EP sounds like.
