Review: Levitation Room at Cactus Club

When walking up to the Cactus Club around 15 minutes after doors opened, the street was lined with people enjoying a couple drinks before the show. The energy was flowing in and out of the venue, and excited fans were anxiously waiting the start of the show. Everyone attending looked like they themselves were in a band, and could hop on stage any moment.

At 8:30, the opener, Human Ant Farm, jumped up to give the crowd what they were waiting for. In their words, this was their “most professional gig yet,” but as an audience member, we couldn’t tell. With a punk, indie rock sound to them, people started to get into the right mood. The band was fun to watch, and the lead singer stood out with his sense of dry humor used in their crowd work. A Milwaukee based band themselves, Human Ant Farm is definitely worth checking out and we can’t wait to see them again soon!

Levitation Room hopped onto stage a little bit past 9, and opened with the song, “Pintura,” throwing the crowd into the right “vibe-set” for the night. This show can only be described as electric; everyone was dancing and cheering their hearts out. After a couple more songs, the band stopped to tell the crowd how amazing they had been. It seemed as if their energy was feeding us and vice versa. As the show continued on, the energy never faltered, and they truly sounded identical to their recordings. On the way out, we stopped and chatted with the band for a bit, and they were all individually the nicest people. This was Levitation Room’s first time back in Milwaukee since 2016, and we are already looking forward to the next time they stop by! Be sure to check out some of their music and see if they’re coming to a venue near you in the future- it’ll be more than worth it.
