Experimental-electronic artist Nicholas Elert has a new record out and he takes us in a dark synth direction. It feels like it could be the soundtrack to an ’80s sci-fi flick. He said he’d been inspired by early electronic artists from the ’70s as well. Imagery of looming towers, difficult escapes, stealthy maneuvers, and unfriendly planets are all over this thing. It’s heavy on suspense, mystery, and thrill. Nicholas Elert is a sonic wizard to know in Milwaukee’s experimental scene, and this record is a delightful addition to his catalog.
