VIDEO: Soul Low – “Bad Set of Moods”

It’s been some time since we’ve heard from indie rock darlings Soul Low, but fear not, the band is back with a new video for “Bad Set of Moods”, which came out today. The track is from the band’s critically acclaimed “Cheer Up” album. The track, if you haven’t heard, is everything you’ve come to expect from the band; poppy, catchy, and just a little snotty, in a good way. The band is always known to put an emphasis into their videos, and this one is no exception to that. Jake Nokovic catches the band having way too much fun from the amusement park to the roller rink. Check out the video for “Bad Set of Moods” below:

It’s a good day in the world of Soul Low, as the band releases their new album, “Cheer Up”. The band has been turning heads with their Blatz-fueled, self-described “jank pop” for some time, but what’s been even more impressive is their ability to keep putting out new, really great sounding music. With eleven tracks in total, including a beautiful string intro, and singles “Bad Set of Moods” and “Chancin’ It”, the album mixes fun sounding melodies with maybe-not-so-fun lyrical content at times. The record also pushes the band’s experimental boundaries, something that they’ve consistently done on every release, as well. Things could be playful and poppy one minute, and then aggressively full of distorted guitars the next. That type of unpredictability has become a Soul Low staple, and keeps you hooked to see what comes next when you’re listening to it. The band will have a release show at the Polish Falcon’s Nest on August 12th, but you can check out “Cheer Up” right now below:

Following their acclaimed release, “Nosebleeds”, Soul Low is returning with even more new material, with their new single, “Bad Set of Moods”. The track is the first offering from the band’s upcoming album, “Cheer Up”, which will be out this summer. In true Soul Low fashion, the track features a skewed blend of surf rock, indie pop, indie snark, and technical instrumentation. In keeping with the album theme, this might actually be the band’s cheeriest work, evidenced by the introductory melody’s singalong by frontman Jake Balistreri. We’ll be keeping our ears and eyes out for more Soul Low in the near future, and you can check out “Bad Set of Moods” below:
