KGZ Japan has a new track out, rapping with a chip on his shoulder on “ABC.” The beat has a lot of bounce to it, but he’s not trying to do TikTok dances or keep things light on the record. He’s serious about his cash, and doing whatever he needs to in order to get to it. Over the course of two minutes, he unleashes a barrage of bars, talking about how he moves differently to get to the cash. “ABC” is only KGZ Japan’s second single of the year, but he makes it count on this one. INTERVIEW: In Real Life
The stars of ABC’s talent competition “Boy Band” are a full fledged touring act now, and as they’re name suggests, they’ll be performing In Real Life on the US Cellular Connections Stage at Summerfest on June 30th. The band was assembled with the help of “architects” on the show, including Timbaland, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, and Emma Bunton, aka Baby Spice of the Spice Girls, and ultimately voted in by fans of the show. We caught up with the group ahead of their show to find out more about their first year as an official group:
B&E: So, Brady is from Shorewood, just outside of Milwaukee. Is he planning on showing you around town (or the festival) when you’re here?
Brady Tutton: Yes, I had the guys come to my house already and check out my high school, but the weather was really bad. This time I want to take them downtown and show them the lake and nearby hot spots.
B&E: Have any of the other members been to Milwaukee before?
Michael Conor: Yeah, we have all been to Milwaukee and actually performed there and stayed at Brady’s house.
B&E: What’s the hardest part about being a “band from a TV show” so far?
Chance Perez: Just after winning the show, you kind of feel like it’s all done and you made it… but it’s really just the beginning of a lot of hard work and long hours. It’s still an uphill battle every day, but it’s been such an incredible ride.
B&E: Have you had a chance to work with any of the show’s “architects”: Nick Carter, Emma Bunton, or Timbaland yet?
Drew Ramos: We haven’t gotten a chance to work with any of the architects. We actually keep in touch with Nick Carter, we just Face Timed him the other day before he went on stage. It’s cool to see that he’s still living his dream after all these years.
B&E: You’ve been an official group for close to a year now. How does it feel to already be playing some big stages like Summerfest so far?
Sergio Calderon: I think that playing one of the biggest stages at Summerfest is a dream come true to all of us. I remember my friend back in sophomore year of high school telling me how cool Summerfest was and now we’re playing it! Everything has been happening so fast and we’re lucky to be in the position that we are in right now.
B&E: What’s next for In Real Life after your current stretch of tour dates?
Michael Conor: We will be heading out on our very first headline tour in the fall so that’s what we are looking forward to at the moment after the American Idol tour.

C4, Tion Fresco & Yungn – “Spazzin'” (Video)
There’s a new generation of young kids in Milwaukee that are constantly putting out new music. It seems like every week or two I find a new track from Tion Fresco. This latest installment is the video for “Spazzin” over Nicki Minaj’s “Roman’s Revenge” beat. It’s clear that these kids aren’t playing around. It’s also weird for me to say “these kids” cause I’m generally not older than a lot of the people I write about. Whatever the case, they’ve got a future ahead of them in Milwaukee, for sure.
