Brad Paisley Opens the Tacklebox: New Single “Fallin'” Drops as 90s-Inspired Project Kicks Off

Brad Paisley is doing what most legacy artists only daydream about — handing fans the keys to his personal songwriting vault. The Grammy-winning country superstar announced today the launch of an ongoing project titled Tacklebox, a rolling release of unrecorded and unreleased songs pulled straight from his catalog dating back to the 1990s. The first taste, a nostalgic cut called “Fallin’,” is out today across all digital platforms.

If the name Tacklebox sounds like Brad winking at his fans, that’s because he is. “We are calling it Tacklebox because it’s a box full of hooks, country lyric hooks,” Paisley explained. “In this digital age, I have every song I’ve ever written at my fingertips. This project gave us a license to dig back into the catalog of songs that were never released, that feel like a time period, a style of writing, a sound, and nostalgia.” The songs were tracked and re-tracked at The Castle in Franklin, TN — the very studio where several of his earliest albums were born. Expect echoes of Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, and Alabama, plus a few 80s-tinged nods to George Strait and Garth Brooks.

Paisley calls the project “never-ending,” comparing it to giving fans a direct line to his Dropbox. More Tacklebox music is slated to drop throughout this week, so country fans would be smart to keep tabs on his socials.

In a perfectly timed full-circle moment, Brad performs “I’m Gonna Miss Her” tonight on the American Idol finale alongside contestant Lucas Leon. He wrote the song in 1995 as a Belmont University senior — the same school that just handed him and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, honorary doctorates last week in recognition of their Nashville philanthropy. The track went on to become his third #1 in 2002 and helped pave the way to his current career tally of 25 #1 singles. American Idol airs at 8 p.m. on ABC, streams live on Disney+, and hits Hulu the next day.

On the road front, Paisley has stacked even more dates onto his BRAD PAISLEY LIVE Tour. The newly announced run kicks off August 27 in Bridgeport, CT at Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater, and rolls through Boston, Bangor, Fargo, Milwaukee, Florida, Virginia, Texas, and more through October 10. Jake Worthington opens select dates, with additional special guests still to come. Fan club presale for Paisley Nation members begins Tuesday, May 12 at 10 a.m. local time, with general tickets and VIP packages available at BradPaisley.com.

Whether you came for the 90s twang, the new music, or the prime-time Idol moment, this week is shaping up to be a big one for one of country music’s most decorated hitmakers. Hit play on “Fallin'” and grab those tour tickets before Paisley Nation sweeps them up.
