Aderyn Struts Into Summer With Infectious New Single ‘Cross Your Mind’ Ahead of ‘Hot Pink!’ EP
If you’ve ever wanted a song that feels like every era of perfect pop music squashed into one glitter-soaked package, Aderyn has you covered. The Welsh alt-pop songwriter (aka Lisa Martin) is back with her infectious new single ‘Cross Your Mind,’ out May 20th, 2026 — the first taste of her forthcoming independent sophomore EP ‘Hot Pink!’, landing in June 2026.
Dubbed ‘Cardiff’s Queen of Indie Pop’ by Radar Magazine, Aderyn doesn’t so much walk into a song as strut into it. ‘Cross Your Mind’ is a swaggering, sparkly takedown of an ex who can’t quite stop thinking about her — and she knows it. “Sometimes you just know in your gut that someone still thinks about you, whether they like it or not,” she explains. “My favourite lyric in the song is ‘strutting in my thigh high glitter boots,’ because that line is so me. I’m always strutting around stage in my diamante boots, so it felt like a little wink to everyone who’s seen me live.”
That cinematic confidence is by design. “Aderyn gives me this confidence I don’t always have in real life,” she adds, “and writing this song, I really let her take over. I wanted the listener to picture Aderyn just stomping through someone’s mind, completely unbothered.”
‘Cross Your Mind’ is the calling card for ‘Hot Pink!’, a sophomore EP that maps the chaotic ups and downs of a break-up across a kaleidoscope of genres. Opener ‘Please’ lands like modern-day Mazzy Star, drenched in moody grunge and one-sided devotion dressed up in religious imagery. ‘Feel Nothing!’ is a raucous fuzz-punk anthem about modern situationships, sweetened with Ronettes-style backing vocals. ‘Cross Your Mind’ brings the strut and the stiletto boots. Closer ‘Victorians’ lets rip over a looping Casio drum beat, all heartbreak and emotional catharsis.
Hailing originally from a sheep farm in the Brecon Beacons, Aderyn swapped the hills for hi-hats at 16, drumming in a grunge band before stepping out front as an alt-pop force in her own right. With backing from the BBC Horizons Project, the PRS Momentum Accelerator Fund, and a Welsh Music Prize Triskel Award — plus airplay across BBC Radio 1 Future Alternative, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, and KEXP — she’s firmly in the “ones to watch” column. Fans of Courtney Barnett, Beabadoobee, and Soccer Mommy will find a lot to love in her blend of ’90s teen-movie soundtrack energy, riot grrrl grit, and alt-pop sparkle.
Catch her live in May 2026: May 20th at The Finsbury in London, followed by May 22nd at CWRW in Carmarthen — both prime opportunities to witness the glitter boots in action.
