Lovebites Drop Blistering “Reaper’s Lullaby” Video as New Album ‘Outstanding Power’ Lands via Napalm Records

Fresh off a triumphant debut at Tokyo’s legendary Budokan, Japanese power metal quintet Lovebites are charging into the global arena with both fists raised. The band has just dropped the official video for “Reaper’s Lullaby,” a 240 BPM thrash-tinged scorcher pulled from their brand-new album, Outstanding Power, out today via Napalm Records.

If you came for politeness, you came to the wrong show. “Reaper’s Lullaby” trades the band’s signature melodic shimmer for tremolo-picked riffs, gang shouts, and a cold, chilling atmosphere that distills one of the most aggressive sides of Lovebites’ identity. The accompanying visual mirrors that darker mood, framing the five-piece performing inside a circle of candles — a deliberate departure from the bright cinematic worlds of past Lovebites videos.

“While our music is fundamentally rooted in power metal, we embrace a wide range of musical styles,” the band says of the track. “‘Reaper’s Lullaby’ can be described as a fast and brutal track at 240 BPM, featuring tremolo riffs that convey a cold, chilling atmosphere. We invite you to fully experience the dark side of Lovebites.”

The single is the latest taste of Outstanding Power, Lovebites’ fifth full-length and their Napalm Records debut — a milestone release marking the band’s tenth anniversary. Across twelve tracks, the quintet flexes every muscle in their arsenal: galloping opener “The Castaway” rockets out of the gate with sweeping pathos, “Blazing Halo” channels AC/DC-esque dual-guitar swagger, “Dream Of King” builds from a stripped-down mid-tempo verse into a full-blown emotional firework, and the closing one-two of power ballad “Eternally” and “One Will Remain” lands the album with genuine heart.

“It was with this sense of overwhelming power that we created a truly one-of-a-kind album — something only we could bring into the world,” the band shared about the record. “We hope metalheads everywhere will draw strength from the songs contained in Outstanding Power, and we look forward to setting sail together aboard the ship called Lovebites!”

Lovebites won’t be staying docked for long. The band hits Europe and the UK this July and August in support of the album, including a stop at the mighty Wacken Open Air.
