England Dan & John Ford Coley Reunite on “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight” 50th Anniversary Edition — Out Now

Fifty years after the song first floated out of car radios and into the soft-rock pantheon, England Dan & John Ford Coley are singing together again. Today, Melody Place Records and The Dan Seals Estate have released the 50th Anniversary Edition of “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight” — the first-ever reimagining of the duo’s 1976 GRAMMY-nominated, RIAA Gold-certified hit. It also marks the first time the late “England” Dan Seals and John Ford Coley have shared a vocal since 1980.

“Some songs seem to take on a life of their own,” says John Ford Coley. “The song ‘I’d Really Love to See You Tonight’ seems to be one of those iconic songs. Dan and I have not sung together since 1980, and it’s interesting that the song that appears to have brought us back together was the one that escalated our career as a duo. It never occurred to me that this song would still be as big today as it was 50 years ago.”

Written by Parker McGee, the track earned the duo a “Best Pop Vocal Performance By A Duo / Group” GRAMMY nomination and has become a permanent fixture in the yacht-rock revival currently sweeping playlists and tour buses alike. Five decades on, that “warm wind blowing the stars around” still hits exactly the way it should.

The reimagined version will appear on Dan Seals & Friends: The Last Duet, an album featuring Seals’ vocals alongside a cavalcade of respected musicians, arriving August 28, 2026.

John Ford Coley is hitting the road this summer in support of the release, with select dates including:

May 9 – Baltimore, MD – Pier Six Pavilion
May 20 – Tomball, TX – Main Street Crossing
May 21 – Duluth, MN – DECC Symphony Hall
May 22 – Rochester, MN – Mayo Civic Center
June 6 – Downey, CA – Downey Theatre
June 13 – Louisville, KY – Iroquois Amphitheater
June 19 – Redlands, CA – Redlands Bowl
June 23 – Nashville, TN – Ascend Federal Credit Union Amphitheater
July 18 – Detroit, MI – Roostertail

Coley will also appear on Live with Kelly and Mark on Monday, May 11, airing on ABC and streaming on Hulu.

Whether you discovered “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight” on AM radio in ’76 or on a yacht-rock playlist last Tuesday, this anniversary edition is a reminder that some songs simply refuse to age. Press play, pour something cold, and let Dan and John take it from there.
