Drop Dead, Gorgeous Return with Toxic New Single “Cyanide” — Listen Now

If you came of age scream-singing along to Rise Records comps in 2006, today is a good day to text your eyeliner-era best friend. Drop Dead, Gorgeous are back with another new single — and “Cyanide” is exactly the kind of theatrical, synth-laced, emotionally bruised post-hardcore that made the Denver crew a cornerstone of the scene in the first place.

Out today, “Cyanide” is the latest chapter in DD,G’s ongoing resurrection arc, following the recently released “GHOSTS.” And while the title might suggest something cartoonishly menacing, frontman Daniel “Stills” Stillman frames it as something far more human — and far more dangerous.

“It’s a dark love song for anyone who’s ever been addicted to someone they should’ve run from,” Stillman says.

That tension — vulnerability dressed up in something sinister — has always been Drop Dead, Gorgeous’s signature move. When their 2006 debut In Vogue landed, it helped define an entire era of post-hardcore, fusing breakdowns with synths, glam-tinged drama, and feelings most of their peers were too busy flexing to admit they had. VICE later credited the band with helping to “perfect a style of post-hardcore that other bands would model themselves after,” noting that “where other bands in the scene would regurgitate the same testosterone-tinged bro-rock, Drop Dead, Gorgeous made their mark by putting [emotional] vulnerability into song.” Follow-ups Worse Than a Fairy Tale and The Hot N’ Heavy only deepened that legacy.

After a decade-long hiatus, core members Stillman, Danny Cooper, and Jake Hansen reemerged in 2024 with a run of surprise shows, then broke their long studio silence in 2025 with “Six Feet.” From there, the momentum hasn’t let up: “Burn” followed, then “Sink Your Teeth” closed out the year, and now in 2026 the band is clearly not interested in tapping the brakes.

“Cyanide” feels like a band rediscovering exactly why they mattered the first time — and finding new ways to twist the knife. It’s poisonous in the best possible sense: hooky, dramatic, and impossible to spit out once it’s in your system.
