Movements Announce New Album ‘Happier Now’ Out September 4, Drop Double Single “Dissolve Me” + “Back in My Ways”

Southern California’s post-hardcore stalwarts Movements are back, and they’re sounding bigger, bolder, and somehow even more emotionally devastating than ever. The band has officially announced their fourth full-length album, Happier Now, arriving September 4 via Fearless Records — and they’re not making us wait around for a taste.

To mark the announcement, Movements unleashed not one but two new singles: the angular, anthemic “Dissolve Me” and the slow-burning, melancholic “Back in My Ways.” Both tracks are paired with a brand new video that you can watch right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ukqf5vGd4PU

“Dissolve Me” is exactly the kind of song that made Movements a household name in the post-hardcore world. Mathy, discordant riffs collide with shimmering vocal harmonies, creating a hardcore bop tailor-made for pit kids who want to jump up and down and dance like nobody’s watching. According to vocalist Patrick Miranda, it was the very first track written for the record — and it set the tone for everything that followed.

“Nailing the lead single for an album cycle on the first try is a significant accomplishment,” Miranda explains. “It felt like the perfect culmination of energy, emotion, and growth for us sonically. Like much of the record, this song is introspective, and it’s a sort of confession about my own social behaviors and the challenges I face in navigating even the smallest or most ‘normal’ everyday interactions.”

“Back in My Ways,” meanwhile, is a master class in slow-burn sonic storytelling. Tinny riffs and measured vocals build with patient intensity until the final third of the track erupts in a torrent of emotive riffs and raw delivery. It’s a callback to the band’s earlier, sadder sound — and one Miranda admits he wasn’t even sure about at first.

“‘Back in My Ways’ was a track that I kinda hated at first,” Miranda offers. “I think there was part of me that was hesitant to want to slip back into the ‘sadder’ side of our music. Sometimes the early versions of the songs we write don’t hit right away, but over time it’s become one of my favorite tracks on the record.”

Happier Now marks Movements’ fourth full-length for Fearless Records, with GRAMMY-winning producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight, Circa Survive) once again at the helm. The result is a record that blends the raw, emotional weight of the band’s early material with the more expansive textures of 2023’s RUCKUS!, further cementing Movements as scene statesmen.

In a true full-circle moment, the band will also rejoin Warped Tour this summer, returning to the very community that shaped them as fans growing up. The struggle, as they say, never sounded so sweet.
