Xandria Announce New Album ‘Eclipse’ Out August 7 via Napalm Records, Share Cinematic New Single “The Shannon’s Home”

German symphonic metal heavyweights Xandria are stepping back into the spotlight, and they are not whispering about it. The band has officially announced their new studio album, Eclipse, set for release on August 7 via Napalm Records — and if the first taste is any indication, this is the most ambitious chapter the group has ever written.

To mark the announcement, Xandria have shared “The Shannon’s Home,” a sweeping new single that channels dreamlike melodies, cinematic orchestration, and Celtic folk textures, all carried by the soaring vocals of Ambre Vourvahis. It is intimate and enormous at the same time, the kind of song that reminds you why symphonic metal continues to pull in new generations of listeners.

Band mastermind and sole composer Marco Heubaum describes the track as “a song like a beautiful, slightly dark fairytale,” explaining that the song serves as an analogy for life itself, pictured as the river Shannon flowing from its source to the sea. It was the first song written for Eclipse, and the band knew immediately it had to be the first one fans heard.

Eclipse spans eleven tracks and represents the most diverse body of work in Xandria’s discography to date. Classic ’80s-inspired metal riffs sit comfortably next to low-tuned modern metal guitars. Cinematic orchestral arrangements brush up against Celtic folk. Dark electronic textures meet intimate rock moments — there is even a guitar solo that, by the band’s own admission, owes more to Pink Floyd than to anything in the metal canon.

The guest list is equally cinematic. Subway to Sally violinist Ally Storch appears on “Lore,” while longtime collaborator McAlbi contributes Celtic tin and low whistles across four tracks. “The Last Generation” features a children’s choir and piano performed by Hollywood pianist Richard Z. Wang, who has worked at Hans Zimmer’s studio. The band also reunited with the Sofia Session Orchestra & Choir (His Dark Materials), with orchestrations handled by Hollywood film composers Lukas Geppert (Nobody 2, the latest Final Destination) and Ishaan Tyagi (Wuthering Heights).

Where 2023’s While The Wonders Still Awaiting marked a rebirth for Xandria with a new line-up, Eclipse pushes further — more focused, more direct, more outspoken. The lyrics tackle what is happening to civilization right now, framing the record as a defiant statement for reason, empathy, and democracy in a moment when all three feel under attack.
