Legendary Producer Steve Evetts Launches GoFundMe After Fire Destroys NJ Studio

If you’ve ever screamed along to a Saves The Day chorus, headbanged to The Dillinger Escape Plan, or felt your speakers buckle under a Glassjaw record, there’s a good chance Steve Evetts had a hand in shaping the sound coming out of them. Now, the legendary producer needs the same community he’s spent decades amplifying to help amplify him.

On May 3, 2026, Evetts’ New Jersey studio was ravaged by a fire that, through no fault of his own, leveled his creative home in a matter of hours. Gone with it: all of his gear, plus a career’s worth of plaques, photos, records, and irreplaceable memorabilia documenting his work with The Cure, The Wonder Years, New Found Glory, Snapcase, The Misfits, Senses Fail, Every Time I Die, The Used, and a long list of artists who helped define modern heavy music.

A GoFundMe campaign has officially launched to help Evetts rebuild. You can contribute or share it here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-steve-evetts-rebuild-his-studio

While insurance is expected to cover the replacement value of the destroyed gear, it won’t come anywhere close to the actual cost of rebuilding a fully functioning studio from the ground up. Construction, room treatment, wiring, and the careful setup that makes a great room actually sound great — none of that comes cheap, and none of it happens overnight.

Evetts started his career in New Jersey before spending the bulk of his professional life in Los Angeles. In 2022, he came home, taking over a Belleville, N.J. facility that had already been the birthplace of plenty of well-known rock and metal records. From there, he kept stacking credits across metal, indie, punk, pop-punk, and emo — proof that his ear doesn’t really care about genre lines, only great performances.

For a quick reminder of the kind of work we’re talking about, revisit Saves The Day’s “Through Being Cool,” produced by Evetts and still a cornerstone of the pop-punk and emo canon: https://open.spotify.com/album/4ALwQQGgWO3oGY8oZkjvxK

Anyone who has spent five minutes in a room with Evetts will tell you the same thing: he’s one of the genuinely good ones, a producer who has given enormous amounts of time, mentorship, and craft to the music community. Now’s a good time to give a little back.

Donate, share, or both. Every contribution — no matter the size — helps Evetts get back behind the console where he belongs.
