Gretchen Wilson Unleashes the Redneck Revolution with New Single “Redneck Shit”

Strap in, hide the good china, and tell the neighbors you’re sorry in advance — Gretchen Wilson is back, and she’s brought a singing catfish with her.

The GRAMMY-winning original Redneck Woman released her brand-new single “Redneck Shit” on May 1, 2026, via her own Redneck Records label in a new partnership with Thirty Tigers. It’s a boot-stompin’, beer-slingin’ ode to unfiltered rural life that lines up shoulder-to-shoulder with the breakthrough hits that built her career — “Redneck Woman,” “Here For The Party,” and “All Jacked Up.” If you ever wondered what would happen if Gretchen poured a tall boy directly into a guitar amp, this is roughly the answer.

The accompanying music video — best described as “Redneck Woman” on steroids — is out now on Gretchen’s YouTube channel. Shot on a farm outside Nashville that will, in the producers’ own words, “never be the same,” the clip is a glorious checklist of everything redneck imaginable: a singing catfish, a smoking chicken, a beautiful woman chewin’ tobacco, pickle moonshine, four-wheelin’, Daisy Dukes, and a butler serving up Busch and Bud on a silver tray. Yes, really.

Cameos doing redneck shit on screen include award-winning singer, songwriter and comedian Sarah Beth Terry, Jessie G, Magnolia Rising, and artist, TV host and champion quad racer Krista Marie Oswald — who, naturally, tears up the property on her quad. The video was directed by Dolton Snedden and produced by Troy Jackson for DS Creatives Agency.

Lyrically, the track is pure Gretchen: raw, real and unbothered by your opinion. Vivid scenes of ass-less chaps, mud-flingin’ fun, backyard bars and family traditions roll into an infectious chorus — “This is redneck shit / It ain’t got no quit” — packed with grit, humor and downhome pride. The verses celebrate creek swimmin’, Hank crankin’ and blue-collar hustle, before the bridge soars into full patriotic territory: “Country / Where the eagle flies across American skies.”

Wilson co-wrote the song with Jacob Summers, Krista Marie Oswald and Sarah Beth Terry, and co-produced the track with Ryan Nelson — keeping the whole project tightly in-house and refreshingly free of focus-group polish.

The release caps a remarkable run for Wilson. Over the last year, she won Season 13 of FOX TV’s top-rated “The Masked Singer,” appeared as the Tour Manager on the hit CBS series “The Road” (executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban), and delivered a high-octane performance on “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash.” This Saturday she joins some of the biggest names in country music at the iHeartCountry Festival at the Moody Center in Austin. She’s also currently in the studio re-recording her breakout “Here For The Party” album with a special guest artist on each song.

Fairly new to TikTok, Gretchen’s personal, fan-engaged and frequently hilarious posts have already racked up millions of views — and with “Redneck Shit,” she’s clearly aiming to make this the unofficial anthem of 2026. With more than eight million records sold and a trophy case stacked with hardware from the CMA, ACM, CMT, AMA, Billboard Music Awards and the GRAMMYs, the original Redneck Woman has nothing left to prove — which is exactly why this song hits so hard. She isn’t chasing trends; she’s stomping right past them.
