A Static Lullaby Revisit Their Post-Hardcore Roots With “…And Don’t Forget To Breathe (Live)” — Out May 15 via Smartpunk Records
If you spent your teenage years screaming along to scuffed-up CDs in the back of someone’s mom’s minivan, this one is for you. Chino Hills post-hardcore lifers A Static Lullaby are dusting off their genre-defining debut and bringing it back into the room — louder, sharper, and unmistakably grown up.
On May 15, 2026, the band will release “…And Don’t Forget To Breathe (Live)” via Smartpunk Records, a full live re-recording of the 2003 album that helped chart the course for an entire wave of post-hardcore and emo. Twenty years on, the songs still hit — and somehow, they hit a little different when delivered by the guys who wrote them at 18 and have spent the last two decades figuring out what they actually meant.

To set the table, the band has unleashed a live video for fan favorite “The Shooting Star That Destroyed Us,” giving listeners a first look at the in-studio performance that anchors the project. It’s tight, it’s loud, and it sounds like a band that genuinely missed playing these songs together. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/J9S55QpzliA
“Celebrating 25 years as a band, we wanted to go back to the songs that started it all,” the band shares. “After playing a few full-album shows, we realized we wanted to share that experience with everyone. If we couldn’t make it to your city to play it for you live, we could at least bring it into your living room and let you share that moment with us. So we filmed it and recorded it live in the studio.”
They continue: “This live album is nostalgic for us, but it also feels new. We’re grown-ass men playing songs we wrote when we were 18, and somehow they still feel fresh and just as relevant today. This isn’t a ‘remember us?’ It’s a ‘we’re back,’ and we’re genuinely excited to share what’s coming next.”
Translation: pull the old band tee out of the drawer. It still fits — emotionally, at least.

Formed in 2001, A Static Lullaby — Joe Brown (vocals), Dan Arnold (guitar/vocals), Nicholas Jones (guitar), Kris Comeaux (drums), and Kyler Gillam (bass/vocals) — rose out of Southern California with a knack for welding melodic hooks to absolutely unhinged energy. After their self-released Withered EP earned them a deal with Ferret Records, the band’s 2003 debut “…And Don’t Forget To Breathe” became a foundational text for the post-hardcore scene. From there came Faso Latido (Sony, 2005), their self-titled record (Fearless, 2006), and Rattlesnake! (Fearless, 2008), plus tours with The Used, AFI, Sum 41, Saosin, Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, Alexis On Fire, Senses Fail, and My Chemical Romance.
The live album is a victory lap, sure — but the way the band is framing it, it’s also a starting line. Whatever comes next, this is the warm-up they’ve been waiting to play for you.
