NESTOR Capture Their Arena-Sized Magic on First Live Album “Live At Gothenburg Film Studios” — Out August 14

If you’ve been waiting for NESTOR to bottle the lightning of their live show and slap it on a record, mark August 14 on your calendar in eyeliner-thick Sharpie. The Swedish melodic hard rock revivalists have just announced their first-ever live album, “Live At Gothenburg Film Studios,” arriving via Napalm Records — and yes, it’s exactly as gloriously ’80s-soaked as you’re hoping.

Originally formed in 1989 and resurrected in 2021 with their Grammis-nominated debut “Kids In A Ghost Town,” NESTOR have spent the last few years steadily reminding the world that hairspray, hooks, and heart aren’t going anywhere. Their 2024 follow-up “Teenage Rebel” cracked the Top 20 in Sweden and hit #12 on the Official German Album Charts, while festival crowds across Europe, the Monsters Of Rock Cruise in the U.S., and headline rooms in Japan have all walked away converted. Now, with stages shared alongside KISS and Europe under their belt, the band is ready to let the live tapes do the talking.

“Live At Gothenburg Film Studios” is a 16-track marathon that pulls liberally from both studio records, including a thunderous run through fan favorite “On The Run,” the singalong machine “Teenage Rebel,” and a fresh rendition of “Firesign” that leans even harder into those neon-lit AOR keys. According to vocalist Tobias Gustavsson, that’s exactly the point.

“When I listen to Live at Gothenburg Film Studios it becomes clear to me that it shows all that NESTOR was all about from the beginning,” Gustavsson said. “A live performance with all the little quirks and mistakes that makes it human, a thing that I have learned to love even more in an era of AI generated music. Live at Gothenburg Film Studios is a less clinical and more human experience in comparison to our studio albums and shows a different side of NESTOR. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did recording it up on stage.”

Translation: this one breathes. Refreshing, considering how many “live” albums these days sound suspiciously like someone Auto-Tuned the audience.

The album will be available as a 1-CD + 1-DVD digisleeve with a 12-page booklet, a 2-LP gatefold in solid red, and a strictly limited 2-LP gatefold pressing in marbled translucent reptile vinyl exclusive to the Napalm Records mailorder. Collectors, you know what to do.
