Public Circuit Recruit Brooklyn’s Finest for ‘Modern Church r//mix//s’ — UK & EU Tour Kicks Off in May

If electronic music is sacred theology, then Public Circuit are the pagan heretics rewriting the hymnal — and today they’ve handed the pulpit over to their friends. The New York City electronic trio just released Modern Church r//mix//s, a top-to-bottom rework of their 2025 LP Modern Church, with every track reimagined by a different heavyweight from Brooklyn’s deep-end electronic underground.

The guest list reads like a who’s-who of the borough’s most genre-allergic acts: Lip Critic, shower curtain, Grumpy, The Wants, smush, ideasforconversations, and Crate — Stream all show up to dismantle and rebuild the record in their own image. The result isn’t a victory lap so much as a block party — eight different rooms, eight different sound systems, one shared belief that electronic music is supposed to feel alive.

“We wanted to put out the remixes to not only highlight all our amazing friends who make amazing music, but also to revive these songs into all the different worlds we believe they belong to exist in,” the band shared. Vocalist Ethan Biamont put a finer point on it: “This album is a representation of the music and people that I love and am inspired by in Brooklyn. All of these acts push their respective genres forward and that’s awesome, but we need to remember what it’s all about: loving electronic music.”

Public Circuit handled one of the remixes themselves, taking another pass at their favorite Modern Church cut, “Damager.” Built for an industrial dance club at 2 a.m., it’s no fat and all electronic synth muscle — the kind of remix that sounds like a warning shot.

The original Modern Church arrived in September 2025 to praise from NPR, Forbes, Notion, and God is in the TV Zine, with critics calling it “a harder and synth-heavy take” on post-punk and clocking the band as the kind of act that “could have been on DFA Records in 2005 (in a good way).” High praise, and earned — Modern Church surgically dismantled post-punk and reassembled it without an ounce of retro nostalgia.

Public Circuit closed out 2025 by opening four nights for LCD Soundsystem at the Knockdown Center in Queens, and now they’re hitting the road again. The trio kicks off a marathon UK & EU run on May 5 in Lyon, winding through France, Germany, Belgium, the UK, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland before wrapping up May 30 in Memmingen.
