August Burns Red Drop Crushing “Sonic Salvation” Video Featuring Polaris’ Jamie Hails — New Album ‘Season of Surrender’ Out June 5

August Burns Red are back, and they’re not pulling any punches. The twice Grammy-nominated metalcore mainstays have just unleashed the music video for “Sonic Salvation,” a thunderous new single featuring Polaris vocalist Jamie Hails — and it’s the kind of cathartic, fist-in-the-air anthem that reminds you exactly why you fell in love with heavy music in the first place.

The track is the latest preview from the band’s forthcoming album, Season of Surrender, due June 5 via Fearless Records (the label ABR recently returned to, in a full-circle moment for longtime fans). Built around chunky riffs, pit-stirring breakdowns, and a “Hey! Hey! Hey!” singalong chorus practically engineered for sweaty venue floors, “Sonic Salvation” is a love letter to the scene that raised them.

Guitarist JB Brubaker says “Sonic Salvation” was the very first song he wrote for the new record. “I set out to write a song that created more space for Jake vocally and leaned a little more into our hardcore influences,” he explains. “I love how this song came out and Jamie’s guest vocal really takes it over the top for me.” Hails, for his part, slots in seamlessly — his snarling delivery dovetailing perfectly with Jake Luhrs’ commanding bark.

Lyrically, the song is a thesis statement on the redemptive power of music itself. “‘Sonic Salvation’ is about finding power and strength in music,” says Luhrs. “The fact that music can bring us back to a memory, help us decompress from the outside world, and how music is what has created our world that is the metal scene.” Fittingly, the music video features fans singing and playing along to the song — a tip of the cap to the loyal community that’s kept ABR going for two decades and counting.

Season of Surrender will also feature guest appearances from The Devil Wears Prada’s Mike Hranica (on opener “Legions”) and Make Them Suffer (on “Cerebral Malfunction”), rounding out an 11-track effort that’s already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated metalcore releases of 2026. Other titles on the record include “The Nameless,” “Behemoth,” “Den of Thieves,” “Whispers Like Splinters,” and the closer “Forged by Failure.”

While fans wait for the full album to drop, ABR are currently tearing across North America on the “Spring Horizons” co-headline tour with The Amity Affliction, with support from Boundaries and Heavensgate. The run hits major markets including Chicago’s Riviera Theatre (5/8), Brooklyn Paramount (5/13), Sonic Temple Festival in Columbus (5/16), and wraps in Philadelphia at The Fillmore on May 17.
