Cascades Sign to Roux & Ruin Records, Unleash Crushing New Single “Spiral”
Columbia, South Carolina five-piece Cascades have a new home, and they’re kicking the door down on the way in. The metalcore outfit has officially signed to Texas-based independent label Roux & Ruin Records, and to mark the occasion, they’ve shared a brand new single called “Spiral.”

If you’ve been sleeping on Cascades, consider this your wake-up call — preferably the kind delivered via a swinging elbow in the pit. The band trades in the kind of post-hardcore-leaning metalcore that balances melody and chaos in equal measure, with crushing breakdowns sitting next to genuinely intricate compositions and lyrics that actually have something to say. Fans of In Flames, Lamb of God, Slipknot, Chiodos, and Dir En Grey will find plenty to dig into here.
“Cascades are proud to be joining the Roux & Ruin Records family,” the band shared in a statement. “Adrianne and her team have been extremely supportive of our artistic vision and are helping us reach the next level as a band.”
The signing comes on the heels of a strong run for the band. Their 2025 EP Before the Fall earned a now-iconic description from Vincent Harris at the Columbia Free Times, who likened it to “a closed fist contacting your jawbone at high velocity, but the guy who did it is SUPER sorry.” A heavier follow-up track, “A Cornered Fox is More Dangerous Than a Jackal,” dropped just before Christmas and signaled the darker direction the band has been chasing.
That trajectory now has a destination: Roux & Ruin Records will release the band’s debut full-length, A Hatred as Pure and Potent as Sunshine, on September 11. More details on the LP are still to come, but if “Spiral” is any indication, this one is going to leave a mark.
Roux & Ruin Records, founded by Adrianne, is a Texas-based indie label with Louisiana roots, focused on post-hardcore, metalcore, and adjacent underground heavy music. The label has built its reputation on artist-first development, transparency, and a hands-on approach — which makes it a fitting home for a band like Cascades, who pride themselves on intensity matched with intentionality, including an active commitment to keeping their shows and online spaces safe for everyone in the room.
In the words of vocalist R.C. Salane: “Scream along.”
