EVILDEAD Unleash Old-School “F.A.F.O.” Music Video, Address Tour Cancellation and Drummer’s Health Recovery

Thrash metal lifers EVILDEAD are back on the warpath. The Los Angeles veterans just dropped the official music video for “F.A.F.O.” — a savage cut pulled straight from their latest full-length, Toxic Grace — and it’s exactly the kind of old-school, riff-forward chaos you’d hope for from a band that’s been flying the thrash flag since the late ’80s.

The release also comes paired with a candid update on the band’s live status. Drummer Rob Alaniz, who recently underwent open-heart surgery and an aortic valve replacement, revealed the health scare was the reason EVILDEAD had to scrap their 2026 European tour plans, including a highly anticipated slot at Headbangers Open Air Festival in Germany.

“After four months of recovery, I’m back — 100% and feeling better than ever at 60 and counting,” Alaniz said. “I’m looking forward to our next gigs and can’t wait to get back out on the road.” Translation: the man took a hit most of us couldn’t walk off, and he’s already back behind the kit swinging.

Guitarist Juan Garcia confirmed that the band has quietly eased back into live mode, playing a short set at a recent private event to shake off the rust. He also teased a handful of exclusive West Coast shows later this year, alongside freshly reissued EVILDEAD catalog titles now available again on vinyl, CD, and streaming.

Vocalist Phil Flores kept it characteristically gracious: “Thanks to all our loyal fans, old and new. We hope you enjoy the old school ‘F.A.F.O.’ music video. We look forward to bringing you new music and live performances in the near future.”

Toxic Grace was released worldwide in May 2024 via Steamhammer and is available on CD digipak, LP, download, and all major streaming platforms. If you haven’t spun it yet, “F.A.F.O.” is a more-than-fair warning of what the rest of the record delivers: tight, pissed-off, and unapologetically thrash.

Crank the video, dig into the album, and keep your eyes peeled for those West Coast dates — because after everything the band has been through this year, these shows are going to hit different.
