THE DEMIX Set for WMSE Local/Live Broadcast and Closing Slot at Inaugural Radiate Festival

Milwaukee’s electronic underground is about to get a double dose of THE DEMIX this May, as the experimental artist lines up two WMSE-presented appearances that bookend the station’s spring programming in style.

First up is a Local/Live broadcast performance at Anodyne Coffee on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 6:00 PM. The show — free and all ages — will be performed in front of a live audience while simultaneously airing on WMSE 91.7FM and streaming via the station’s Facebook and YouTube channels. It’s the final Local/Live installment of the season, and it doubles as an on-air preview for what’s coming at the end of the month.

That “what’s coming” is Radiate, WMSE’s brand-new electronic music festival making its debut on Saturday, May 30 at Third Space Brewing. Running from Noon to Midnight and presented by WMSE 91.7FM and McLaughlin & Hayes Hat Co., the festival is free and open to the public, stacking a full day of DJs and electronic artists alongside food vendors, art, and community partners. The lineup — Lukewarm, Brian Small, Asher Gray, JaiRoc, Blaze Orange, Amy Octane, D1, Jayx, Subspace, Surge, Jonn Hawley, and THE DEMIX — runs deep, with THE DEMIX taking the closing slot to send the inaugural edition off into the Milwaukee night.

If you’ve caught THE DEMIX before, you know what that closing set is likely to sound like: a tactile, cinematic collision of experimental sound design, industrial texture, ambient drift, and rhythm built to move bodies. Genre lines are more of a suggestion than a rule here, and immersion wins every time.

His latest release, ACTION BUILDING SYSTEM, sharpens that approach into its most pointed statement yet. Billed as a “mini album mixtape concept album,” the project assembles multiple periods and states of attention into a single moment of action, centered on navigating unstable systems where intelligence, belief, technology, and control all overlap. Distortion and friction are features, not bugs — melodies fight their way through pressure and grit, bent and reworked across four distinct songs and one piece that abandons song form almost entirely. Almost.

Beyond the stage, THE DEMIX remains one of Milwaukee’s most active electronic curators, continuing to steward the long-running MELT series that has spent over a decade connecting experimental artists and rewriting expectations around live electronic performance. Mark your calendars now for MELT on July 31 in Milwaukee, a Madison date on August 1, and another MELT in Milwaukee on October 10.
