Heathen Unleash “Twist of Faith” Video: Bay Area Thrash Legends Dig Deeper Into the Vault
Bay Area thrash veterans Heathen are keeping the riffs coming in 2026. Today, the San Francisco legends dropped the official music video for “Twist of Faith,” the second track off their brand-new Never A God 12″ Maxi Single, out now via their new home, Napalm Records.
If the title sounds unfamiliar, that’s kind of the point. “Twist of Faith” was originally released in 1992 as the opening salvo on Lifeforce, the lone album from cult Bay Area outfit Psychosis — a band that happened to feature current Heathen members Kragen Lum (guitar) and Jason Mirza (bass). More than three decades later, the song has been dusted off, beefed up, and given the full “Heatheniz-ed” treatment, landing somewhere between a tribute to the region’s demo-tape underground and a flex of the band’s modern firepower.
“Let’s keep things rolling with new music for 2026,” the band says of the cover. “‘Twist of Faith’ is another early 1990s era song that we gave the HEATHEN treatment. Demo collectors may have heard the original Psychosis recording of the song (with Kragen Lum on guitar and Jason Mirza on bass), but we’ve added some new elements and taken it to the next level. We have another 15 songs in various stages of production right now, so enjoy the Never A God 12″ Maxi Single with ‘Twist of Faith’ and get ready for the new album (and more).”

The Never A God Maxi Single pairs “Twist of Faith” with its title track — itself a resurrected demo originally cut by Laughing Dead — and serves as a celebratory opening shot for Heathen’s partnership with Napalm Records while the band continues work on their long-awaited next full-length. The release is available in two strictly limited 12″ variants: a Marbled Black Smoke edition (200 copies worldwide, Napalm Mailorder exclusive) and a Gold edition (300 copies worldwide), both housed in a slipcase with a B-side logo etching.
Heathen first emerged from the San Francisco thrash boom in 1984, and their early records — 1987’s Breaking The Silence and 1991’s Victims Of Deception — remain cornerstones of West Coast metal. Now, with a new label, new music, and a loaded touring schedule on deck, the veterans are making it clear they’re not here for a nostalgia lap.
Speaking of the road: Heathen hit North America tomorrow on tour with Coroner, with festival stops lined up at Legions of Metal in Chicago (5/2) and Mystic Festival in Gdańsk, Poland (6/4), followed by a summer run supporting Metal Church across the U.S. and Canada in July.
